Convenience & Recycling Centers
Current News
Convenience Center Hang Tag Sales have opened for FY24.
About Us
Newton County only offers Trash Collection through Convenience Centers to its residents in the form of six centers. The Landfill does not accept the Hang Tag. These centers, which are strategically located throughout the county, accept household garbage, bulk waste, and recyclables. Hang Tags are only for Residential use, no Commercial Businesses. Commercial Businesses must use the Landfill or another option to dispose of trash. Recycling is voluntary but greatly reduces the amount of waste that enters the Landfill.
Convenience Centers are not equipped to handle large volumes from one source. Multiple loads or large loads that do not fit inside the bed of a pickup truck cannot be accepted at the Centers and must be taken to the Landfill. All loads must be covered and until you are stopped at the dumping area.
It is unlawful to dump garbage, recyclables or refuse of any type at the gate of any Convenience Center when it is closed. It is unlawful to scavenge or remove any materials deposited at any Waste Collection/Disposal facility.
Convenience Center Requirements
A vehicle hang tag are required for access to all six centers. The fee is currently to $175; however these tags will expire on June 30, 2024. Attendants at the convenience centers will check for these hang tags upon entrance to the centers. Residents must complete an application, show their Driver's License, vehicle registration of the vehicle most likely (not absolutely) to enter the Centers, and show current proof of residency with a property tax bill or utility bill, mortgage statement or lease agreement to purchase a Hang Tag.
What Can You Take to The Centers?
Residents may take Up to 10 bags of trash per week. Bulk items that fit into the bed of a pickup truck is acceptable. Once a month, a Large Bulk Item (i.e. mattress & box spring or sofa & chair) may be dropped off after the attendant completes paperwork noting the Users Hang Tag information.
