Elected to the Board of Commissioners in 2016.
A life-long resident of Newton County. I grew up on a dirt road in District 1 and now live on another dirt road in that same district. My wife Leslie, a second-grade teacher at Mansfield Elementary School, and I have been married for 25 years. My daughter Coley is a junior in nursing school at Georgia College and State University and my son Tristan is in his first year at Athens Tech.
I am a 1982 graduate of Newton County Comprehensive High School and a 1984 graduate of Control Data Institute — computer technology. I hold a BS in business management and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
I retired from AT&T in 2018 with 34 years where I managed large domestic and international teams. I now manage Jones, Ewing, Dobbs, and Tamplin Insurance Agency’s Covington office. I served on the Newton County Board of Elections and as Vice President of the executive board at Project Renewal, a domestic violence shelter serving Newton, Rockdale and Walton counties. I was elected to the Newton County Board of Education in 2014 and I have been the District 1 Commissioner since January of 2017. My family and I attend Stewart Community Church.
