Work Session schedule set for FY2018 Budget
The Newton County Board of Commissioners (BOC) will hold a series of Work Sessions to discuss the Fiscal Year 2018 Budget during the month of May.
The BOC was presented budget requests during the first Fiscal Year 2018 Budget Work Session on the evening of Tuesday, May 9. During that meeting, the board reviewed the preliminary budget and set priorities which include: employee compensation, cash reserves, fund balance and to be presented a budget with the existing millage rate.
The BOC will continue to review the General Fund on Monday, May 15, along with hearing requests from outside agencies.
On Wednesday, May 17, the BOC will be presented with all budgets for Special Revenue Funds, Capital Project Funds, Debt Service Fund and Enterprise Funds.
During the final scheduled Work Session on Wednesday, May 24, county staff will submit the proposed budget to the BOC.
All meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Newton County Historic Courthouse.
After the proposed budget is submitted, the BOC will host a public hearing before approving the Fiscal Year 2018 Budget.
