Performs professional, administrative and technical work in interpretation of the County’s comprehensive plan and zoning and development ordinances. Reviews requests for rezoning, variances, conditional use and other types of permits, and considers the application of the zoning and development regulations in current and future land use planning, and activities related to zoning, land use and development and code compliance. Assists the Director and County Planner in the daily operations and functionality of the Planning & Zoning Division of the Development Services Department.
All candidates to fill a vacant position in this classification must meet the following minimum requirements:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Urban or City Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, or other related field; and
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible related experience in Zoning Administration; or, (Georgia experience as a Zoning Administrator is a plus)
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid state driver’s license.
Current satisfactory motor vehicle report.

WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is not regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, especially in hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, and sun. Also not exposed to electrical shock, work in high precarious places, dust, fumes, caustic chemicals, and potentially hazardous substances. The incumbent's working conditions are typically quiet.
