This appointment serves to assume job responsibilities during a period of temporary absence. This temporary assignment is expected to last no more than three months.
Temporary appointments are not covered under our Employee Benefits Programs.
The Executive Assistant provides support to the Chairman of the Newton County Board of Commissioners and serves as the primary point of contact for the Chairman on all internal and external matters pertaining to the Office of the Chairman. The ideal individual must have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. Under the general supervision of the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, the Executive Assistant shall have the ability to work independently on projects from conception to completion, oversee technical and office administrative duties, coordinate overall County and community activities and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.
JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS:
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by Newton County safe driving policy.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Chairman.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree is required for this position. In addition, a candidate must have a minimum of two years of office administrative, supervisory or lead experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
Specified position requires possession and maintenance of a valid Georgia driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
