JOB SUMMARY:
Performs work involving the skilled operation of heavy construction, maintenance and right-of-way equipment. Constructs, repairs and maintains roads. Serves as lead worker at the assigned worksite; trains others in equipment operation. Repairs and maintains rights-of-way; performs traffic control duties; performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment; performs associated labor duties at various worksites.
This position may be required to be on call for after hour emergencies, such as inclement weather, etc.
This position may be required to work on religious holidays in some circumstances.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
All candidates to fill a vacant position in this classification must submit to and pass a drug-screening test after meeting the following minimum requirements:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED; and, two to three years of progressively responsible related experience; or, any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Class B Driver's License or have the ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.

Working Conditions:
While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is regularly exposed to weather conditions, especially cold and hot temperatures, humidity, rain, and sun. Also exposed to airborne irritants, fumes, dust, gases, noxious odors, vibrations, electrical shock, and moving and/or mechanical parts.
The incumbent's working conditions are typically very loud.
