Services

Newton County has improved the method by which residential garbage is disposed. All compactor sites are fenced and staffed and offer specific hours of operation. Recycling bins are conveniently located at all Neighborhood Recycling Centers formerly known as "compactor sites."

Recycling is voluntary. County residents are asked to recycle so that our community can continue to reduce the amount of waste going into our landfill. With your help, Newton County has reduced waste going into the landfill by 37.9% since 1990.

Neighborhood Recycling Centers are not equipped to handle large volumes of waste materials from one source. Large truck loads and multi-loads of bulk waste will not be accepted and should be taken directly to the landfill. The charge is $39 / Ton. When transporting garbage, refuse, or any cargo, use containers, tarpaulins or other devices that would effectively prevent materials from spilling or blowing from the vehicle onto county roads and right-of ways. "Cover your loads for cleaner roads" Littering fines are up to $1,000.
